April's Meeting

We met again a Deseria's house for this month's meeting. What we focused on for this meeting was costuming. The type of costuming we discussed was designs by the Dutch doll maker Ankie Daanan. What's special about her costuming is she uses many layers and a beautiful selection of fabrics; mainly silk. We began with looking at photos of the costumes provided with the patterns. After looking through the patterns we saw this would have to be a 2 part meeting; reason being the patterns were not that easy to read. Unlike the patterns here in the States, the sewing key is difficult to follow if you've never taken any of her classes. Fortunately we had Deborah to show us. We went through each symbol and how the costume is put on the doll which was very interesting. Deborah explained from what she remembered from taking the Dutch Touch class. We made our choice of costume and decided we would work on them on our own along with making a doll to be ready for our next meeting. Since Deborah will be out of town for May's meeting, we decided this project will be completed for June's meeting.
